Web Access - Proxy Settings
If you are in a division that utilizes Proxy Server (and this applies to all of our divisions) and you cannot connect to the Internet, then you must enable the Proxy Server. Note: If you are trying to connect to the Internet from home, you must disable Proxy Server.

Step Action
1. The first step is to launch your browser application (e.g. Internet Explorer). Go to Start > Programs > Internet Explorer.
2. In the top main menu of your browser, go to Tools > Internet Options.
3. In the Internet Options dialog box click on the Connections tab.
4. Click on the button.
5. In the Lan Settings dialog box, place a checkmark in the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box and fill out the Address (e.g. wwwproxy) and Port number (e.g. 3128) input fields.
6. Click on the button.
7. In the Proxy Settings dialog box, make sure that the same address (e.g. wwwproxy) and port number (e.g. 3128) is entered for all servers (e.g. HTTP, Secure, FTP and Gopher). Note: Use the same proxy server for all protocols check box should be selected by default, if it is not, please do so manually.

If you need to access the development server for User Acceptance Testing, then you must enter the following 2 addresses in the Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with text area, separated by a semi-colon:
  • devdb2.development.greatgulfhomes.com
  • devdb3.development.greatgulfhomes.com
8. When you are done, click to close the Proxy Settings dialog box. Next, click to close the Lan Settings dialog box and click , once more, to close the Internet Options dialog box.
9. Finally, restart your browser.

Disabling Proxy Server
Step Action
1. The first step is to launch your browser application (e.g. Internet Explorer). Go to Start > Programs > Internet Explorer.
2. In the top main menu of your browser, go to Tools > Internet Options.
3. In the Internet Options dialog box click on the Connections tab.
4. Click on the button.
5. In the Lan Settings dialog box, deselect the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box.

The dialog box should look like this now.
6. When you are done, click to close the Lan Settings dialog box and click , once more, to close the Internet Options dialog box.
7. Finally, restart your browser.
