Recovery Steps
Instructions on how to recover after a power outage. Two phases are involved in the recovery process.

Phase 1: Power Down Servers
Server Steps
Main D3
  1. Log on to the system using your user name and password.
  2. Enter EX in the menu box. You may need to enter a password.
  3. At the prompt, enter Shutdown. The system shuts down all processes up to 256. When it is done, a "Connection Closed by Host" message is displayed.
  4. Go to Start > Shutdown.
  5. Turn off the power.
Do not power up until you have shut down the rest of the servers.
NT Server (File Server)
  1. Go to Start > Shutdown.
  2. Turn off the power.
ActiveFax Server
  1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services.
  2. Click on the ActiveFax-Server-Service icon and click Stop.
  3. Go to Start > Shutdown.
  4. Turn off the power.
Firewall Server
  1. Log on as "root".
  2. Enter "shutdown -h now".
  3. Turn off the power.

Phase 2: Power Up Servers
Server Steps
Firewall Server Switch on the power.
NT Server (File Server) Switch on the power. Log on as admin.
Main D3 Switch on the power. Log on as admin.
ActiveFax Server Switch on the power. Log on as admin.
Once the computer has powered on, start the D3 Virtual Machine Environment and D3 ODBC Services as follows:
  1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services.
  2. Click on the D3 Virtual Machine Environment icon.
  3. Click Start. Wait for status change to "Started".
Repeat the same steps with the D3 ODBC Services. Close the Services window.
Palm PC's Reboot all Palm PC's and log them onto the network. Once they have been rebooted, a "Sleeping until 23:00" message will display on all of the D3 sessions.
