9.5 Maintain Project Punch Task
Purpose of application is to create, update, view and distribute project punch tasks. Project punch task, is simply a fix that needs to be performed during or after the project's completion (e.g. re-sod lawn at community entrance).

Step Action
1. Open Maintain Project Punch Task application.
2. Select a project from the Select a Project drop down list.
3. Enter a vendor ID in the Select a Vendor input field or click on the button to find one.
4. You can narrow down your search even further by filling out Optional Search Restrictions section of the form; you can select a punch task status (e.g. completed) and/or completion date range (June 1-10, 2010).
5. When you are ready, click .
6. Review the Project Punch Task form and make any necessary adjustments. You can modify description, status or completion date.
7. When you are done:
  • To save and exit, click .
  • To save and distribute, click .

9.5.2 Creating a new project punch task
Step Action
1. Open Maintain Project Punch Task application.

Select a project To which project do you want to add a punch task? Select a project from the Select a Project drop down list.
Select a vendor Vendor, is another mandatory field. Enter a vendor ID in the Select a Vendor input field or click on the button to find one.
Select status To search and update an existing project punch task, select its status from the drop down list (e.g. progressing, completed).
From completion date & To completion date You can also search for an existing project punch task by entering a date range within which it was or should be completed.
2. To create a project punch task, you must select a project and vendor. These are the 2 mandatory fields.
3. When you are ready, click .
4. Fill out the Project Punch Task forms. Enter description, status and completion date.

FORM FAQ
Punch Task Template Predefined, commonly used, Punchout tasks. To use one: select a task from the Select a Common Punchout Task to Load drop down list and check off the check box on the left of it, to insure the loading of the actual template.
Description Description, notes or comments about the current Punch Task.
Status Status of the Punch Task (e.g. Not started, Progressing/Started, Approved/Completed). Default value is Not Started.
Completion Date A date by which a Punch Task is scheduled to be completed.

The number that the link represents (e.g. , or ) is actually the number of days by which the current date gets incremented.

Example: Today is 04/01/07. After a link is clicked, date gets incremented by 1 and becomes 04/02/07. You can repeat this step as many times as necessary.
5. When done, click or to distribute the current Project Punch Task info, click .
6. In the Distribute Project Punch Task form, choose a contact method (e.g. email, fax) by selecting the appropriate check box.

When done, click or to distribute immediately without previewing. Below is an example of the Preview mode.

Tip: If the selected vendor has no contacts, as in the example below, you can set them up in Maintain Vendor CS Contacts application. For details, see Maintain Vendor CS Contacts section of Construction Scheduling training guide.
7. To exit the application, click .
